Knit from the top down, the circular yoke has bands of simple but stunning stripes with tiny bobbles. This motif is repeated at the bottom of the sweater as well as at the cuffs.
The sweater is worked seamlessly and in the round from the top down. Short rows raise the back neck; then the color work yoke is worked. The sleeves and body are separated and worked from top to bottom.
The instructions are written. Working from the top down allows you to try on the sweater at several different points of construction and modify the body length and/or the sleeve length for a custom fit; these points are noted in the directions.
The sweater is designed to fit with 2-4" of positive ease, so the nine sizes cover a wide range of fits. The sample shown is worked in size A with 2" of ease. When choosing your size, figure your chest measurement plus the amount of ease you want, and select the size closest to that.
The finished chest measurements are:
32.5 (36.5, 40.5, 44.5) (48.5, 52.5, 56.5, 60.5)“
You will need:
- 6 (6, 7, 7) (8, 9, 9, 10) skeins Color A and 1 (1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2) skeins Color B. Sample shown in Straw (Color A) and Daylily (Color B).
- If you want to add length to the body and/or sleeves, you will need additional yarn in Color A.
- US size 2 (2.75 mm) and US size 4 (3.5 mm) needles were used; swatching is highly recommended to obtain the gauge of 24 sts and 32 rounds = 4" after blocking.
